It’s a sentiment that is going to be shared for a while – it has been a fantastic year for gaming. We’ve been spoilt while the quality of videogames released, but I would just like to point out how lucky we’ve been with the continuation of games we may not have ever thought to see come back. We got Alan Wake II and Baldur’s Gate 3, both of which haven’t had mainline releases in several years and The Talos Principle 2, a game I didn’t think we’d ever get another of but I am so glad we did.
I suspect I am pretty close to finishing it, based on the structure of the narrative, and have loved every single moment in it. The puzzles are fantastic, and as with the first game, exploration and experimentation lead to some great moments. Another stand out is the visual presentation as the varied environments in which all the puzzle goodness takes place are stunning. From dense forests to sparse deserts, these vivid and sometimes surreal landscapes provide the perfect backdrop the unfolding philosophical story. I’ve put together a couple screenshots, which would contain minor spoilers regarding the locations found in the game, but won’t reveal any puzzle solutions, check them out below:
