Sucker Punch Productions’ 2020 action adventure game Ghost of Tsushima got a PlayStation 5 release in 2021 as the Director’s Cut which included the expansion and some specific features for the new hardware such as 3D audio support, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, and improved loading times.

The game tells the story of Jin Sakai who fights against the Mongol invasion of his of home, the Japanese island of Tsushima. As his first attempt to repel the invaders fails, he resorts to forgoing the traditional samurai code to become The Ghost, engaging in guerilla warfare to engage his enemies.

The island of Tsushima, and Iki island in the expansion, are beautifully detailed and the world is filled with rich and stylised colour choices. Here are some screenshots I took while exploring:

The Positives.
The Negatives.
